SHA Central Council calls on Labour Women’s Conference to take a position on abortion rights.
“Conference deplores the imprisoning of a woman in England this week for obtaining an abortion illegally.
We note that this went against the representations of doctors and other health care professionals.
Generally the UK abortion law is outdated and dangerous, impacting access and preventing the provision of best care.
Conference resolves to campaign for the decriminalisation of abortion across the UK, supports abortion law reform and believes that abortion should be treated as essential healthcare.”
