The NHS and its Workers
The chapters which follow deal for the most part with matters which concern directly those who work in the NHS, and concern patients somewhat less directly. Those who have read our earlier chapters will know that we see this to a large degree as a somewhat artificial distinction, but it is a convenient one. There are issues where the interests of patients and of those who work in the NHS conflict, and we deal with one such – industrial strife – in Chapter 12. But it is in everyone’s interest that patients should be cared for to the best of the ability of those whose high responsibility this is.
