I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the Socialist Health Association for my re-election for the City of Durham.
I have always believed in an NHS that is free at the point of use and that prevention, and addressing wider determinants, are key to reducing health inequalities.
I’m currently undergoing cancer treatment and have received world-class care from the teams at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Freeman Hospital. My experience has reinforced my view that the NHS is our most important public asset; however, because of the Tories it’s currently a postcode lottery.
This must change.
If I’m re-elected, I will continue to fight for an NHS that is free, public and universal. I’ll also be fighting for NHS workers; after all, they’ve had my back and I will have theirs in Parliament.
At this election, we have the opportunity to make the NHS the envy of the world once again.
Let’s get on and do it.
