The SHA is one of Labour’s long standing Socialist Societies. Our experience of working with Faiza Shaheen is hugely positive. She, along with a number of MPs, union leaders and campaign representatives spoke powerfully at our NHS75 conference at Conway Hall. The clarity of her understanding and discourse on issues of class and ethnicity in the determination of health is hugely important in the public’s understanding of these issues. The SHA believes she would be a real asset as an MP. She must be permitted to stand as a Labour candidate.
UPDATE: We note with huge regret that Faiza has not been permitted to stand as a Labour candidate. As an affiliate of the Labour Party we are unable to endorse her candidacy.
