The SHA is surprised by reports that Labour’s manifesto might propose Integrated Care Systems are “empowered to act as a bulwark against privatisation”. This disregards that they were designed precisely to embed transnational corporations in the commissioning and provision of NHS services.
Labour’s Manifesto should stand by the policy agreed at Labour Conference where the SHA health motion, composited, and passed unanimously, calls on Labour to repeal the Health and Care Act 2022, eliminate integrated care systems and return all privatised parts of the NHS to public control upon forming a government.
A second point:
We agree that using NHS patient data to understand patterns of disease is hugely important for humanity. This data belongs to us all, should not be handed over for corporate profit but should be used for public benefit.
