Since June my main activities have been
- the development of the website – the Editorial Board will report on this
- building a partnership with Equality North West. We have started a programme of events around health inequality across the North West, and have done 2 sessions in Bolton
- more Defending the NHS sessions, in Bristol, Gloucester, Chorlton, Wythenshawe, and Kendal
- the Labour Party National Policy Forum weekend. I’m still not very confident in the process, but I have more faith in the people
- publicising the NHS 65th Birthday events.
- we organised a seminar with Titus Alexander on his ideas for a Parliament for Health
- we organised a seminar on social care which is reported separately
- During my European tour I built some useful links in Germany and Austria, and I hope to get some useful international perspectives on our website in due course
- building partnerships with the Manchester Fabians – we organised a joint event on public health policy. I hope to do something similar with the Socialist Education Association in Manchester
- improving our relationship with Unison in Yorkshire. I ran a stall at their NHS anniversary celebration in Leeds, and spoke at the launch of the Band Together for the NHS campaign
- speaking at the Unite NW Equality conference, and at my local Unite branch in Central Manchester
